With monohull and multihull line honours decided at the 2017 Rolex Fastnet Race, attention is fully focused on who will claim the Fastnet Challenge Trophy and Rolex timepiece awarded to the overall winner of the event on IRC handicap. Of the record-breaking 362 yachts which set sail from Cowes, a little over a third have crossed the finish line in Plymouth. Those still at sea face a race against the clock to overturn the corrected time set by the current leader on handicap, Didier Gaudoux’s JNA 39 Lann Ael 2. Those returning to the docks at Plymouth can reflect on an enjoyable 2017 Rolex Fastnet with good breeze, close competition and constant tactical challenges.
